Galleries Emergentes at Paris+ par Art Basel

The emerging gallery section at Art Basel was made up of 13 galleries from around the world. Each of the young galleries had a solo presentation of one artist on their roster.

While these booths were made up of installation art, sculpture and painting, I naturally gravitated towards painting as seems to be the case quite a lot of late.

Chris Sharp Gallery from LA presented UK based Sophie Barber whose loose paintings represented known artists and their dogs.

London based gallery Carlos/ishhikawa presented Bendt Eyckermans’ paintings which make reference classical painting and allude to a narrative often beyond the scene presented on the canvas.
