Andrea Tyrimos - blending street art and fine art

Andrea Tyrimos is a London based artist whose work appears on the streets of London. She has applied her work to telephone boxes, utility boxes as well as walls and lampsosts. Alongside her street art she has a studio practice and works on her ongoing passion project, Bipolar Picasso.

Six things I learned from Andrea

  1. The art she produces in the public spaces are done with oil paints often using fine brushes.

  2. Her sitter for the project with Roy’s People Art Fair in November 2018 is Catherine, a service user of Centrepoint, the charity that the art fair is associated with this season.

  3. She has famous people as sitters for paintings shown in the Bipolar Picasso exhibition to draw attention to the cause, and these paintings sit alongside members of the public she paints.

  4. Paisley Park in Kennington was once a zoo, who knew!

  5. Her work on the street and in the public domain began as part of an art school project when she was a student at Central St Martins.

  6. She makes alot of effort to engage audiences when she is producing outdoor work, talking to everyone who is interested in her work and drawing into conversation anyone hovering and observing her nearby. A true people-person as she says in her own words!
