Future Memoirs of Water

The solo exhibition featuring the work of artist Keri Rosebraugh opens at The Hoffman Centre for the Arts, Manzanita, Oregon on 2nd March 2024

An Oregon native spending much of her childhood at the coast, her presentation titled Future Memoirs of Water, delves into the profound interdependence between humanity and water. Rosebraugh's body of work explores the captivating concept that water retains memory, sparking a transformative dialogue on the inherent connection between human existence and this uid element.

Through artistic research, the artist keenly observes water, observing its ability to echo and mirror the life surrounding it. Rosebraugh posits that water serves as a potent portal bridging the realms of the tangible and the intangible, celebrating the profound unity that binds us all.

Future Memoirs of Water promises to be an immersive experience, inviting viewers to contemplate the deep symbiosis shared between humankind and this life-sustaining element.

Keri Rosebraugh is a multimedia visual artist whose work seeks connections between humans and examines how those parallel our relationship with the environment. She incorporates natural materials joined together with fabricated objects to establish a contact between man and nature.

The pieces featured in this exhibition draw inspiration from impactful locales and resources that have surrounded the artist in recent years. Among these evocative sources are the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean along the US west coast, the untamed clis lining the Atlantic Ocean in Brittany, France, and the historical Lake Bolsena, situated atop a once-active volcano north of Rome, Italy, to name a few.

Keri shares "I feel like I am a contemporary explorer of nature, captivated by the allure of oceans, rivers, and lakes. Since 2017, I've immersed myself in the study of how water retains memory, an ongoing fascination that serves as the driving force behind my artistic practice. By communing with nature I believe this brings us closer to ours.”

Rosebraugh has been collecting samples of water from around the globe. She collaborates with this water to create one of a kind drawings, monoprints, paintings, installations, videos, and sculptures.
