Q&A with Ryan Stanier

Ahead of meeting for the podcast, i asked my audience to send in their questions.

In this episode of the podcast Ryan answers questions around the selection process, suitability of the fair in their career and using the event to improve your visibility as an artist

Seven things that Ryan and I talk about

  1. Most fairs have about a thousand applications with around 140-150 being selected to take a booth.

  2. Artists can choose the size of the booth and this is built for the fair.

  3. Each fair has a different selection committee in order have fresh eyes on the submissions

  4. 50% of the chosen artists have done a fair before and have some experience of working a booth.

  5. The fair has no bias in the selection - artists can be from art school or self taught, any age, working in any medium

  6. Taking part should be used as an event where artists can bring their existing fans and buyers to come and see them.

  7. Many artists use creative ways of funding a booth including crowdfunding and finding sponsors such as their employers.
