Ceili Seipke
Ceili Seipke is a multi-disciplinary artist and creative. Art was left in the background for many years while she raised three children and worked in various jobs, but in 2020 it moved back centre stage.
She says: “For ten years I used photography as my creative outlet because it rendered the quick results I needed to do art while working at a stressful full-time job. Once I’d learned the basics of digital photography and editing software, I used those skills to create make-believe worlds, as well as making props, costumes, and sometimes sets. Four months after having a solo show of my fairytale-esque portraits, Covid’s protocols stopped me from continuing to create that type of photography.” “During the initial lockdown of the pandemic in the spring of 2020, I found myself gravitating back to painting. The need to return to painting was really about a desire to use my hands again to create things. In the winter of 2021, I studied with artist Leah Macdonald to learn encaustic photography. This satisfied my yearning for tactile art-making, while providing a way to blend my photography and painting skills.
Ceili is involved in her local art community through The S.P.A.C.E Gallery and South End Arts and Business Association in Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Baylor University, Texas with a BFA in Painting and a minor in Interior Design. She works from her home studio in Vermont.
