Christina Lewis Vizcarrondo
Christina Lewis Vizcarrondo, aka Bonesy, is a Puerto Rican-American painter born in New Jersey, now working in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is interested in the spiritual realms and personal development and cites her artist influences as Vincent Van Gogh and Arnaldo Roche because of the expressionistic nature of their art.
Her work explores the idea of the golden shadow coined by Carl Jung. The Golden Shadow is the brightest gift that lives within each of us when we are in alignment with our purpose. It is something that exists and is often resisted or dismissed by many people. Through the artist’s own continual journey of personal development, she expresses her discoveries through a number of series, including the yoga series, the Goddess series, and her Instagram filters, including Goddess Mode. Nature and technology come together in her work, which questions the fallacy that they are mutually exclusive. Through augmented reality, the observer can directly interact with the paintings, cultivating a more active viewing experience.
The Goddess series shown here reminds us of the divinity within. All of the women are in joy and alignment with their purpose, including the glow of their golden shadows. Many of these pieces have an augmented reality component bringing the goddess to life.
As an interdisciplinary artist, she also has a presence in the crypto world and recently showed at the NFT only show with the Super Chief Gallery. Bonesy has exhibited in New Jersey, New York City, Colombia and Puerto Rico and completed two art residency programs.
