Divyangi Shukla
Divyangi Shukla is an Indian artist currently living and working in Chicago, Illinois. She received a BFA in 2020 from Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and is currently pursuing an MFA Studio in Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
She says: “My practice involves a deep interest in experiencing people. I am inclined to create these moments of contact through continuous, live portrait drawing, note-making, painting and object-making. Lately, I have taken an indirect approach of abstracting elements from these encounters. I create iterations of objects and possessions around the children, families and elderly individuals that I have visited like their toys, dolls, soft animals and patterns on the fabrics of their clothes.”
