Elliot Tellef
Elliot Tellef is a Texas-born, non-binary artist educated in Fine Arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City. Their paintings, prints, and sculptures are primarily abstract and probe gender, trauma, and healing. Present themes in Tellef’s portfolio include oscillating duality, nature, decay, and turbulent emotional experiences described through the cathartic nature of visual expression.
Tellef says: “The artwork Codependency considers the relationships acquired to soothe oneself from internal turmoil, often obsessing over a familiar character for validation. Completing this two-part painting in the isolation of COVID-19, I fixated on a well- endowed, agoraphobic friend, acting as her muse. The canvas depicts an extroverted green tentacle reaching across the canvas, slapping its porous introverted counterpart, enacting the abrupt end to our relationship.”
Elliot is featured on the Art Seen, Issue 12 published in May 2024.
