Vanessa Snyder
After retiring from Creative Director positions at two non-profit science institutions, (a zoo and a science centre), Vanessa Snyder is now an MFA student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Atlanta campus.
She says: “The focus of my work has always been aligned with two things: my affinity for history and interest in the sciences. I trust both to provide me with the data I need to translate the world in which I find myself as an adapting and aging human being. As an artist, I enjoy searching for a fuller understanding of my place in the world, so that I may interpret my observations. I find beauty in the immensity of universal behaviours and subjects (such as human and animal anatomy, ecology and outer space), as well as in the tiniest details of cells, synapses, seeds and eyes. Invisible subjects and theories are particularly appealing because they nudge my imagination to interpret what is not plainly seen.”
