Sarah Jane Moon

Sarah Jane Moon is my guest on this episode of the podcast. She talks about her move from New Zealand to Japan to London and taking a short course in life drawing that started her career as an artist.

Sarah Jane is a portrait painter and a teacher at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. Mostly working to commissions she goes on to talk about her evolving style, and managing her art business.

Take a listen.

4 Things I Learned from Sarah Jane

  1. A short course in life drawing was Sarah Jane’s entry into making art. She continued after a summer course with portrait painting and worked towards a diploma.

  2. She was taking commissions and exhibiting while she was a student at the Heatherley where she enrolled as a student, and now teaches

  3. She was rejected from the BP Portrait award exhibition numerous times before being selected and her submission was then used in the publicity and seen around London on posters.

  4. She has committed to exhibiting a new body of work for late 2020 . This has given her a focus for 2020 in terms of production, studio time, and managing the number of commissions she will take on.
