Jane Molineaux Boon
Jane Molineaux Boon studied illustration and design at Wimbledon and worked as an illustrator for years. In 2015 after a break from work, she started painting as a Fine Artist and has grown her practice with commissions and exhibitions. Jane now has a studio at Thames-side Studios in Woolwich.
Of her work, Jane shares, “I work mainly in portraiture exploring the mental journey and decisions associated with modern life. My work is concerned with identity, what we show to others and ourselves. People have many identities but they are all the same person. My continuing practice is to explore the idea of realism within portraiture and to show something of who the subject of the painting believes they are and who they could be as well as what they look like. Making work from small moments challenges me and my practice, as I deal with the changing world. In this way I hope to grow my practice , to challenge what it means to be a contemporary portrait painter.”
