Hyun Jung Jung is a Korean artist currently based in Portland, Oregon. She mixes various textiles techniques with ready-made and found objects to create familiar scenes that people from different backgrounds and cultures can relate and respond to.
“In my work I explore identity, seeking experiences as someone who moved alone to a foreign country at a young age. Often looking back to the past, the pieces are an artistic recreation of the experiences that shaped my present self. They represent the search for answers to the lingering emotions and questions about identity building. Through creating tactile and interactive pieces, I invite the audience to explore their identity, shaping memories that are sparked from my pieces.”
