Julie Flandorfer
Julie Flandorfer’s studio in Dallas, Texas, The USA.
Julie Flandorfer paints imagined scenes that are often quirky and awkward based on her memories of growing up in the country and in a small town. Her use of pop culture references, 20th century advertising motifs combined with snippets of nature show the many layers of memories we all have.
What is your favorite thing about your studio?
“I wish I could say I get to my studio by strolling down a mossy garden path next to a babbling brook. However, I enter my home studio through the kitchen or garage. To set a tranquil tone, and have a defined separation from these other home areas, I placed a bookcase with art books, an orchid, a wooden screen, and a small sculpture right as you enter the studio. I switch them out regularly with items such as fun sculptures and vintage books. I can breathe a sigh of relief as I walk in and get busy creating.”
