Ryan Maves studio located in Phoenix, Arizona, The USA.

Ryan Maves is an artist and designer who has been living in Phoenix, Arizona since 2004. He attended Arizona State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture in 2013. Ryan has been producing sculptural works out of his home studio since 2019 and recently had his first solo exhibition 'An expectation of intuited divinity; or A prayer to keep the old gods dead' at The Trunk Space in Phoenix. The submitted work "untitled (unknown trophy)" is a part of that exhibition.

He says, “At the times when I am alone, in my mind, at home, in the studio, I think about the stories we tell ourselves and those we never had a choice in learning. While conceiving this work, I thought about how you could tell a story through the context of materiality rather than an image. Objects which may seem familiar but never tell the same story twice. Narrative without the burden of meaning. My work is not a vessel to hold my intention but rather something more porous like a mountain hollowed by mines. All I’ve done is made space in the betweens for you to find meaning.”
