Teri Hendrich C. was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration & Fine Art with honors from ArtCenter College of Design and has continued to hone her artistry and storytelling by working as a color supervisor in animation.
She says, “I cast spells with vibrant pastels. Using calculated spontaneity and a mix of representational and abstract imagery, I conjure mesmerizing colorscapes which convey a quiet tenderness that speak directly to the soul. My process starts by selecting a harmonious symphony of hues with the help of custom mixed paint colors. My mediums of choice can alternate from acrylic paint on wood or canvas to gouache and pencil on paper. When I know that the stars are aligned in the sky and with these materials gathered before me, I proceed to let my heart sing through brushstrokes and color. An imagined space may be rendered in monochromatic detail or indicated simply with a single, flat ground color. Whimsical yet touching narratives then emerge through the unidentifiable figures in my paintings while gestural, multi-colored swooshes, convey the emotions of the scene.”
