Catie Radney
Catie Radney is a progressive abstract painter from Alabama.
“It becomes a world I can get lost in and could easily stay in forever. I carefully tiptoe along the lines of reality and illusion creating these worlds within my work. When painting, I use the canvas as an opportunity to confess my personal thoughts, experiences, and diatribe about what I cannot reconcile from the world outside of the studio. Approaching a solution involves allowing the figurative forms in the composition to be birthed into existence. The implied figures give structure to the raw nature of the layers and layers of underpainting, and play the role of masking or distracting from what is too literal or too honest for me yet to reveal. The donning of recognisable form in paint mirrors every human’s experience of wearing an acceptable persona to navigate their daily life.”
