Geraldina Khatchikian
Geraldina Khatchikian is an Italian abstract painter and jewellery designer living and working in Milan. Being surrounded by goldsmiths at a young age, she decided to continue practising her jewellery design skills to also become a jewellery designer, while at the same time building an art practice.
She says: “Painting has always been a liberating form of art therapy which helps me cope with thoughts, process my feelings, and express my emotions.”
About her most recent collection entitled Rebuild, she says: “I started to apply engraved sheets of copper, brass and zinc to the canvas, and also metal wires in a technique similar to that used in jewellery creation. Each painting begins with a question and creates a journey whose outcome is often unexpected. All the canvases are the result of an emotional journey that describes the preciousness of the inner world through an explosion of colours mixed together with the world of metals to highlight its value.”
