Shelly Pamensky
Working with colour, its different opacities and strengths, and seeing how one colour transforms another, is a deeply engaging process for London-based artist Shelly Pamensky.
Having lived half her life in South Africa and the other half in London, Pamensky’s palettes appear as the muted gentle tones of London, or those reminiscent of saturated sunsets in Africa. Her work is also inspired and influenced by fashion and the inescapable frenzied world of social media. The weaves of Bottega Veneta, and the striped colours of Missoni all manifest in her paintings. She uses emojis selected from social media to add an element of pop art playfulness to her work.
