Rebecca Annan
Rebecca Annan is a fine artist longlisted for the 2022 Jackson’s Painting Prize for her series Comfort Collection.
She says: “As a neuro-diverse artist, creativity caters for my need for introspection and focus. When I am charmed by my environment, I often discover beauty where it is least expected or may be overlooked; a crumpled sweater, an unmade bed. By recalling my experiences of contentment in sincere responses to my environment, I am able to honour my appreciation of the little things.”
“The Comfort Collection draws attention to everyday textiles associated with comfort, celebrating the ordinary and highlighting the often overlooked textiles of our daily lives.”
Following her artistic education at Colchester Institute, Essex, she trained and worked as a paediatric nurse for over a decade. During this time she continued to engage in her artistic practice. She returned to art on a full-time basis at the beginning of 2021, working from her home studio in Wales where she lives with her husband and two children.
