Pure Essence - A Solo Exhibition

Pure Essence is a solo exhibition representing feminine self-love in its purest form by artist, Chanelle René.

The show reflects the vulnerability and emotions of simply being from a Black woman’s perspective. Bold and vibrant portrait and abstract paintings done in oil, acrylic and mixed media marry expressive mark-making with realism to capture the complexity and nuances of the human spirit. Exploring themes of diverse beauty, freedom and self-discovery, René’s work seeks “a visual embodiment of our truest self and deepest emotions.’

Chanelle René is an award winning, self-taught artist who embraced painting as self-care during the ‘pandemic pause’; transitioning from a 20+ year career in digital marketing to professional artist. Her work has been exhibited nationally including: Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition, Noyes Art Museum, Cape May MAC, The Curator’s Salon and Ocean City Arts Center as 2021 Best of Show winner. Born in West Cape May, René currently lives and works in Middle Township, Cape May County.
