Hannah Thomas

Hannah Thomas is an abstract painter, working largely with acrylics who conjures up works illustrating the absurdity, the complexity and the multi faceted nature of life and the world around us and within us.

She studied Art at UWE in Bristol, worked as a music photographer in London for over a decade and then transitioned to painting after her fortieth birthday. She has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions online in the last year and been a finalist or honorable mention in several prestigious competitions. She is based in Wiltshire and is currently in the process of securing a new studio space from where she will begin her new series of paintings, following on from her Absurdist Dreams project.

Hannah shares about her artwork that, ”My paintings can seem to almost collapse in on themselves with the amount of detail and often no obvious focal point, but they are an exercise in precisely that intention. A rebellion against the perfectly balanced, the conveyer belt mediocrity of some commercial abstract art.”

”I want the work to reflect visually the unruly mix of tones and nuances and conflicts that we experience internally and also the nature of life, which is often an avalanche of elements, unexpected experiences and confusions; choices with unforeseen consequences.”
