Sarang Byrne

Sarang Byrne is a San Francisco-based painter inspired by the flora around her.

She shares, “The world around me is constantly inspiring my work. From the sunshine I feel on my face, to the complex colors in the flowers that bloom in the spring, I focus on these observations - and have an almost obsessive urge to bring these momentary inspirations to life through paint.

When I enter my studio and I am painting I feel every aspect of myself, every encounter I have had with the world. In each painting session I can only hope that all the joy, shame, doubt, sadness and excitement I feel will be successfully communicated onto the blank surface - each emotion courses through my veins to my heart and helps me create the spontaneous strokes and colors in my work.

Some days my attempt at communicating my heart falls short, and some days I step back from my painting and I smile - big. Knowing I have succeeded. This moment is what I live for - my creation of art is truly, intrinsic in nature.”
