Stephanie Noble

Stephanie Noble was born in Cardiff and after living in various European cities, currently lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Stephanie made a career in Environmental Health but came back to visual art while living abroad, inspired by the landscape of the Alps. Entirely self-taught, Stephanie likes to work in impasto oil paint applied with a painting knife and so often the texture achieved on the canvas often communicates the textures of the landscape being depicted.

Stephanie’s work is a reflection of images and experiences where the beauty of the landscape has inspired her. Stephanie is moved by the enormity of the lands around her and her place in time upon those landscapes. Sometimes she paints the landscapes that generate a feeling or a memory for her and in other bodies of work, she looks more closely at the elements that make up the landscape, looking past the more obvious and finding beauty in the overlooked.

The layering of human emotion onto a landscape that is always changing, yet simultaneously also remaining steadfast, is something that Stephanie likes to explore.
