Chanelle René
Chanelle René is a symbolic-expressionist painter whose “soulful portraits” capture diverse women, the journey of self-discovery, and the freedom that comes from being true to self. She currently lives near her seashore-hometown of West Cape May, New Jersey. A Rowan University graduate, Chanelle René’s journey to become an artist unfolded later in life – having worked in creative design for most of her career. Unearthing her talent and aptitude for art, Chanelle René embraced her creative spirit to become a professional artist, studying classical painting at Milan Art Institute.
“The only limit is your soul’s desire” is core to Chanelle René’s vision as an artist – bringing artwork into the world that inspires the heart of the free spirit. Working in encaustic wax and oil paint, Chanelle René is pushing boundaries to create meaningful, expansive experiences for the viewer. Opening a pathway to step more fully into our ‘deeper’ self and living authentically from that place.
Out of her light-filled, sunroom studio Chanelle René is currently working on several series of artwork. Her work has been featured in the online publications: Cape May.com and Showcase magazine. Chanelle René is excited for future travel, art exhibitions, collaborations and hosting art retreats curated for the modern bohemian.
About her art journey, Chanelle shares, “My materials and process deeply satisfy my adventurous soul and curious sense of wonder. I’m drawn to more traditional mediums and work primarily in oils or encaustic wax medium. I’ve always been fascinated with faces and the exquisite beauty that emanates from the soul of every woman. As a woman of color, diverse feminine beauty is central to my work. Portraitures allow me to quietly whisper the deepest desires of the soul. Bringing forth a full spectrum of modern beauty, unbridled and free, in a world of endless possibilities. Painting helps me unearth who I am by creating my own visual vocabulary to express myself beyond words.”
