Judith Lungen
Desert dreams of ancient times in the footsteps of shepherds and saints along rocky paths laid barren in the endless summer’s sun. Sit on chunks of limestone once part of a great edifice. Cycles of Life. Memories stir. There in solitude of time suspended in meditation lies the beauty of remembrance. Gates once opened now closed. It is old, it is ancient, it is magnificent. These are all inspirations for Judith Lungen that are channeled into her artworks.
Born in Jersey City, raised in upstate New York, from the age of eight Judith began an intensive education in the world of music, art, ballet and theatre. Invited to join a Professional Repertory Summer Stock Musical Theatre-in-the-Round Judith’s true passion was set and scenic design.
She received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the American College of Jerusalem, completed her mandatory army service, then apprenticed with Israeli sculptor Robbie Scharf. Her first solo watercolors exhibition was at Scharf’s “Galleria Ha’Ya’ar.” Judith would soon travel and exhibit her work in Amsterdam, Paris and Brighton & Hove. Living on her narrowboat in Little Venice, Judith prolifically sold and exhibited her watercolors.
In 2020, Judith shifted into digital art as she embarked on a major project entitled FATHER GIRI’S DIARY, A PILGRIM’S JOURNEY, a collection of over 65 digital paintings. In early 2021 she released a segment of her digital paintings to juried competitions. Her work has been invited to 24 international exhibitions, recipient of 8 awards.
