Erick Mota
Erick Mota is a Venezuelan-American fine artist born and raised in New York City. With disciplinary inspirations ranging from Jean-Michel Basquiat to Paul Cezanne, Erick’s work – an amalgam of modernism, surrealism, and the abstract – not only reflects the world around him, but the inner workings of those inhabiting that world; their most wicked demons and noble aspirations.
Mota says, “I have consistently enjoyed working mainly with oil paints because of the freedom and flow that the medium allows. While using oil paints, I tend to work on several pieces at a time, challenging myself with each idea. My work encapsulates psychological aspects of human tendencies, the natural world, and feelings and emotions expressed in a constant search for the best way to interpret the world in which we live. In trying to capture universal human themes such as love, death, joy, humor, spirituality, fear, birth, and the variabilities of experiences entailing altered states of consciousness or grips on reality.”
Erick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Organizational/Industrial psychology, and is currently a PhD candidate in Organizational Leadership.
